I know you’ve changed Westchester, but…

I still love you and miss you. I miss the beach. I miss the way Lincoln Blvd sweeps down hill and Culver Blvd heads to the pond. I miss the sea breeze and the public libraries. I miss all those places of yesteryear and at the same time I miss all that I have never known.

  1. Yes, I think we ALL miss Westchester in many ways. As children, Saturdays were spent at the Paradise or Loyola theatre double feature matinees, Riding our bikes or playing hide and seek until our fathers whistle reminded us it was getting dark and it was time to get home. And visiting Karls toy store was always a special treat. Flying Thimble Drone Cox control line airplanes on the playground at Osage Ave. school. We would ride our bikes to where the 405 freeway is now before it was built and we called it the “gully” and watched as the new highway was being constructed. We built dams in the gutters and marble roller coasters using our garden hose. It was a time of imagination, adventure and innocence. Oh how I miss those days.

    • Omg… the gully…yes that was such a fun place, along with the bean fields. I used to spend my Saturday’s there.
I remember when they were digging Marina del Rey… we actually walked down into it before the water was released!
Favorite memory of summers was the free shows at the Loyola Theater. You had to pick up tickets at Marina Federal Savings, where I later worked..ha
What a great place to grow up🌺
